"Get Back (ASAP)" is an up-tempo song by Romanian recording artist Alexandra Stan, released in 2011. It serves as her third single in Romania and as her second single in countries such as Belgium, France or Italy. It is the follow-up to "Mr. Saxobeat" which was Alexandra Stan's first hit outside Romania, topping the Italian charts and being a Top 3 hit in the UK as well. The song and accompanying video relates the resuming of the happenings from "Mr. Saxobeat". The video was shot in April and May and premiered on June 6, 2011 on YouTube. It was filmed in a Mexican saloon and Stan changes three outfits throughout the video. "Get Back (ASAP)" is due to be released in the UK shortly. The song has peaked at number-eighteen on the French Singles Chart after a run of almost twenty weeks aboard the chart. In Romania the song peaked at number four within the Romanian Top 100. It has also charted in Belgium, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Chart performance

"Get Back (ASAP)" firstly charted in the French Singles Chart, due to the high number of digital downloads. On the week-ending of March 25, 2011 the song entered the French iTunes chart. The next week, April 2, 2011 it has entered the French Singles Chart at number forty-two, becoming that week's second highest debut.[3] Meanwhile, the song had already spent more than five weeks within the French Airplay chart, where it has eventually peaked at number sixteen, spending twenty-five weeks inside the top 250. In the Singles Chart it continued its ascension, reaching the peak of number-nineteen in the sixth week aboard the top. After spending only two weeks in the top twenty, "ASAP" fell to number thirty-three and downward to number ninety-nine, in its twenty-first week in the chart. The song had also entered the Romanian Radio Airplay Chart in early April and it has also managed to enter the official Romanian Top 100, peaking at number-four for two non-consecutive weeks and spending nine weeks within the top ten of the chart. The song reached the charts in other European countries like Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria or Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia). On the issue-dated September 2, 2011 charts, "Get Back (ASAP)" opened at number sixteen on the Finland's Official List, at number twenty-two on the Danish Tracklisten and at number thirty-six on the Dutch Top 40. The song had also received airplay in Italy. Finally, "Get Back" attained its first number-one position in Slovakia, while in Czech Republic stopping at number-five. In the Hungarian Airplay Chart it is currently at number-eleven in ascension while at number-twenty on the Dance Chart. On the Spanish Singles Chart the song jumped from number forty-seven right to number-fourteen after its performance at the Los Premios 40 Principales.

Music video

Alexandra Stan started filming the music video for "Get Back (ASAP)" in late May, 2011. On May 25, 2011 the video was concluded with the scenes from the Mexican saloon. The director of the video was Iulian Moga (brother to Marius Moga) while the special effects were put together by 1QSapro.[4][5] The shootings were drawn somewhere nearby Bucharest, at Castel Film Romania Studios. The adjacent scenes were all cut off, apart of the scenes showing Stan in a dark wardrobe, changing her outfits and dancing in a corner.[4] The music video was uploaded onto Ego Italy's YouTube account on June 7, 2011. The video shows Stan changing from the police outfit she ended up with in the Mr. Saxobeat video into a red dress. Then she walks down a staircase into a saloon bar and sings in front of the bar's crowd. Afterwards, a man enters the bar and starts to play cards with Stan. Then, the police who arrested Stan and her friends looking for Stan in the bar, then they eventually find her. Before trying to arrest her again, the men defend her and the police end up bar-fighting with them. After the police win, they sit on the bar stool next to the bar man. Then, in sepia, it shows a flashback of Stan grabbing the money from the cards and running out the bar, fleeing away from the police. At the end, the man on the right punches the bar man. The policemen have a flashback, like a camera-taped video in which Stan gets away with all the money the clients plaid for.
